Robert Downey Jr. Buys Historic Windmill Cottage On Long Island

EAST HAMPTON, NY — A-list Hollywood stars have long been captivated by the allure of the Hamptons, and now, Robert Downey Jr. has added his name to the celebrity roster of East End homeowners: Downey Jr. has reportedly purchased a historic windmill cottage in East Hampton.

According to a Realtor.com post, Downey Jr. purchased the 1885 Edward DeRose Windmill Cottage; the article cites a "Behind the Hedges" report that says the property on Main Street was listed with Brown Harris Stevens at $11.9 million.

The beautiful home is a "faux" windmill, but is "an accurate replica" of an actual East Hampton windmill; the home was used in the movie "Deathtrap," according to hookedonhouses.net.

The unique home attached to the windmill has four bedrooms, 4.5 baths, a tennis court, and a sundeck attached to the master suite, as well as a two-bedroom guesthouse, Realtor.com reports.
