S.A.G.E East End Celebrates HIFF 2018 with CreativeChaos VMG

Local group supports a private reception for a new feature documentary, "This Changes Everything"

Sag Harbor, NY (October 8, 2018) - On October 6, 2018, S.A.G.E. East End supported a private event to celebrate the U.S. premiere of the documentary “This Changes Everything” at the Hamptons International Film Festival. Created by film production companies CreativeChaos vmg, New Plot Films and directed by Tom Donahue, “This Changes Everything” spotlights the systemic discrimination and under-representation of women in Hollywood behind and in front of the camera. Donahue uses first-hand testimonials from some of the industry’s biggest names, as well as historic evidence and current data to emphasize the need for change. The feature film, produced in association with David Yurman and Lyft, investigates the forces that foster gender discrimination and reinforce gender disparity in our culture and the significant influence that Hollywood has when it comes to creating and reinforcing gender stereotypes in our broader society.

This inspirational event gave the East End community an impassioned look at the need for sustainable action if we are to achieve gender equality. Following the film, the guests had an opportunity to be part of the conversation, including hearing from a panel discussion led by NYWIFT (New York Women in Film and Television) President and one of the film’s Executive Producers, Simone Pero along with S.A.G.E.’s Denise Keane, Artemis Rising Foundation’s Regina K. Scully (Executive Producer), Kerianne Flynn of New Plot Films, and Maria Giese, whose years of activism within the Hollywood industry informed much of the storytelling in the film. These women touched on the important influence that Hollywood has on our culture and spoke to the need to tackle diversity and gender equality in a sustainable way. They highlighted the importance for all of us to be agents of change in our community. Ms. Keane stated "I was so pleased to be able to do my part to support ‘This Changes Everything’. The team that directed and produced this film are committed to lasting social change. The story may be about Hollywood, but the issues are universal. Gender equality is a business imperative, a community imperative, and a social imperative. The time is now, the energy is here, and it will take all of us working together to tackle this challenge in a sustainable way."
