Sag Harbor Students Enjoy New Court, Plaza, Playing Field

"All kids, big and small, love to get out in the fresh air for some healthy competition."

SAG HARBOR, NY — Sag Harbor Elementary school children have an even greater reason to love outdoor recess — newly improved school grounds.

Recently completed construction projects include a new multipurpose court, a plaza in front of the main reception area, an athletic playing field, new sidewalks and fences, and a guardrail along New York State Route 114, the district said in a release.

Kids especially enjoy kickball, basketball and hopscotch, district officials said.

“The new construction has enabled us to improve not only the aesthetics and safety of the school grounds, but our ability to have good, old-fashioned fun outside,” said Elementary School Principal Matthew Malone. “All kids, big and small, love to get out in the fresh air for some healthy competition.”

Malone also mentioned student gardens and new trees separating the athletic field and playground, donations from the Musnicki family — and added that all are looking forward to watching the new flowers and trees bloom in the spring.
