School Vote 2018: East Hampton Budget, BOE Candidates

Here's what you need to know before you head out to vote on Tuesday.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — The East Hampton Union Free School District's proposed 2018 to 2019 school budget of $69,846,198 reflects a 2.25 percent increase, a tax rate increase of 1.63 percent, and a tax levy increase of 1.92 percent, within the tax levy cap.

"We are mindful of the priorities our community has established to maintain programs and the appropriate staffing for our students, and we believe it is most important to keep the interests of our taxpayers in the forefront of our thinking. The Board of Education and I believe we can achieve these goals. I hope you will join us in continuing to provide a quality education to all East Hampton’s children," said Richard J. Burns, Superintendent of Schools.

Three candidates are vying for two open seats on the BOE; the two seats to be filled are those held by Christina DeSanti and Elizabeth Pucci. Incumbent DeSanti is facing off against Sarah Minardi and Jeffrey Erickson.

The annual budget vote is scheduled for Tuesday in theBoard of Education Room, 4 Long Lane, between 1 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
