School Vote 2019: East Hampton Budget, BOE Candidates

Here's what you need to know before you head out to vote on Tuesday.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — Residents in the East Hampton Union Free School District will vote on the district's $70,947,120 proposed budget for the 2019-20 school year on Tuesday, May 21.

The proposal calls for a 1.58 percent increase in spending over the current year and the tax levy increase is 1.85 percent, which is within the tax levy cap.

and the appropriate staffing for our students, and we believe it is most important to keep the
interests of our taxpayers in the forefront of our thinking. The Board of Education and I believe
we can achieve these goals. . .I hope you will join us in continuing to provide a quality education to all East Hampton’s children," said Superintendent of Schools Richard J. Burns.

Residents will also have an opportunity to elect three members to the East Hampton Board of Education: Four candidates are vying for three seats, to be filled are those currently held by incumbents James P. Foster and Wendy Geehreng, as well as a third seat that was formerly held by Richard C. Wilson, who passed away. Also on the ballot are Sandra Vorpahl and Jeff Erickson.

Polls will be open from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the district's Board of Education room, located at 4 Long Lane in East Hampton.
