See Inside The Most Expensive Home On Long Island
The 6.7 acre estate is being sold by the family of former Union Pacific Railroad Company chairman James Evans, who died in 2015.

EAST HAMPTON, NY – East Hampton has reclaimed the crown of having the most expensive Long Island home on the market from Southampton. The family of former Union Pacific Railroad Company chairman James Evans, who died in 2015 at age 94, is selling a 6.7-acre estate located at 12 Windmill Lane for $60 million.
The property includes a 5,500 square-foot waterfront house with five bedroom suites and six full bathrooms. Outside there's a 50-foot heated pool and a private path to a white sand beach. A separate 1.3 acre inland lot with a 3-bed, 2.5 bath guest cottage and its own swimming pool.
The hefty price is largely due to its location right off Further Lane and it's possible a new owner may chose to tear down the current structures and take advantage of current zoning that would allow a 12,477 square-foot home and a new 6,040 square-foot cottage, listing agent Frank Newbold told the Wall Street Journal.

If you somehow came up with the $12 million to put 20 percent down on the $60 million purchase price, you would have a mortgage payment of $228,634. That does not include taxes though, which will run you $64,649, which is just about equal to the the median household income in New York.
The Evans property takes over the top spot for most expensive home on the island from 1400 Meadow Lane in Southampton, which has been on the market for more than two years. The newly built 9-bed, 12.5-bath estate is listed for $53.9 million.
