EAST HAMPTON, NY — Suspended since the start of the pandemic in March, 2020, in-person senior programs are set to begin again in East Hampton.

East Hampton Town's senior nutrition programs will resume meal service at the East Hampton Senior Center, located at 128 Springs-Fireplace Road in East Hampton, and at the Montauk Community Center, located at 240 Edgemere Street in Montauk, on July 12, town officials said.

Community members who are 60 and over are able to receive lunch in person, which will be served at each center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Masks are to be worn while in the buildings, except while eating — and reservations are required.

Following Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s announcement that the state of emergency put in place during the pandemic had been lifted, East Hampton's home-delivered frozen meal program, put in place during the pandemic, will be discontinued as of Friday, July 9. Seniors who have been receiving frozen meals are invited to attend the in-person group meal programs at the East Hampton and the Montauk Playhouse sites, town officials said.

Homebound seniors still requiring home meal delivery can call the town's human services case
manager at 631-329-6939 for assistance with connecting to the East Hampton Meals on Wheels
program.

In addition, the town's senior transportation program will resume on July 12. Transportation will be provided for essential services on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with trips, for the time being, limited to destinations within East Hampton and Southampton boundaries, officials said.

New safety protocols are required for staff and riders to minimize the transmission of the
COVID -19 virus, town officials added. Drivers and passengers will be required to wear masks and, to maintain social distancing, seating may be assigned. Those in need of transportation or with questions are asked to call 631-324-4443.

In-person case management services have resumed by appointment only. Residential repair
services will also begin July 12. For information, call 631-329-6939.

Finally, the town's in-home services program will commence again July 12, with limited service.

"It is our utmost priority to keep everyone associated with the East Hampton Town human
services department healthy and safe, while also making sure to meet the needs of our senior
clients who need us now more than ever," town officials said. "Over the last 15 months, human services' staff worked diligently to provide meals to the 60-plus community, and thanks to their dedication, the town was able to accommodate the unprecedented number of requests from older adults who were in need of meals and services. The human services staff is looking forward to resuming programs, and are excited to see everyone on July 12."
