Students Cheer On 5K In Memory Of Girl, 12, Lost To Cancer
Katy's Courage raises funds to fight back against pediatric cancer.
SAG HARBOR, NY — A little rain didn't stop students from cheering on a 5K in memory of a girl, 12, lost to cancer.
Sag Harbor’s Pierson High School Interact Club offered water and cheers to the participants in the Katy’s Courage 5K race on April 13, the district said.
The non-profit organization was founded in 2012 in honor of Katy Stewart, who passed away at age 12 from pediatric liver cancer, school officials said. Katy’s Courage raises money to fund local school scholarships, pediatric cancer research and Katy’s Kids@CMEE.
