Restaurant Owner Hopes To Welcome Bill Clinton While He's In The Hamptons

It's a good bet he will be stopping in at Babette's in East Hampton.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — For anyone trying to catch a glimpse of the Clintons while they weave in and out of their multiple Hamptons fundraisers on the East End this week -- the fundraisers have been organized from Quogue to North Haven, East Hampton and Southampton -- chances are Bill will be popping into Babette's on Newton Lane in East Hampton sometime very soon.

"He hasn't been in yet, but he absolutely will be in," Babette's owner, Barbara Layton, told Patch.

On Sunday she said she was seeing the Clintons that night at a fundraiser, and was expecting the former President to pay a visit to Babette's.

For the past few years while vacationing in town in August, the former president has found time to stop in for a meal at Babette's. The eatery specializes in local produce, vegan and vegetarian entrees.

Other popular spots where the Clintons have dined numerous times during past trips to the East End are Amagansett's Sotto Sopra and Nick and Toni's in East Hampton.
