Zeldin 1 Of 106 Congressmen In Support Of Overturning Election
Rep. Lee Zeldin was 1 of 106 GOP House members in support of Texas' bid to overturn President-elect Joe Biden's victory.

LONG ISLAND, NY — Rep. Lee Zeldin, R-Shirley, was one of 106 GOP House members who signed an amicus brief Thursday in support of Texas' bid to overturn President-elect Joe Biden's victory.
According to the AP, the Texas lawsuit asking the U.S. Supreme Court to invalidate President-elect Biden's victory has quickly become a conservative litmus test, with many Republicans signing onto the case even as some have predicted it will fail.
Zeldin was one of two representatives from New York to sign; the other was Rep. Elise Stefanik from the 21st District.

"The lawsuit filed by Texas to the Supreme Court presents a strong and compelling argument in favor of and defending the Constitution, law and the legal voters of Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin, etc.," Zeldin said. "It's amazing how many people are commenting on the substantive content of this suit without even bothering to read it. These are eye-popping, confirmed details of wide-spread wrongdoing, which must be understood and addressed on behalf of the legal voters who live in those states. This is so much bigger than this year's presidential race. Election laws and state constitutions were blatantly ignored by certain officials to tilt an election in a different direction. That can't even honestly be disputed."
The last-gasp bid to subvert the results of the Nov. 3 election is the latest demonstration of President Donald Trump's enduring political power even as his term is set to end. Seventeen Republican attorneys general are backing the unprecedented case that Trump is calling "the big one" despite the fact that the president and his allies have lost dozens of times in courts across the country and have no evidence of widespread fraud. And 106 Republicans in Congress signed on to a court filing Thursday in support of Texas, claiming "unconstitutional irregularities" have "cast doubt" on the 2020 outcome and "the integrity of the American system of elections," the AP report said.

The brief is led by Rep. Mike Johnson, R-La., who, in an email obtained by Forbes, said Trump personally asked him to recruit supporters for the lawsuit, which aims to invalidate results in four states Joe Biden won: Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Georgia, according to Forbes.
Zeldin recently declared victory after taking the lead by a wide margin in the race for New York's 1st Congressional District seat against challenger and Democrat Nancy Goroff.
Zeldin's tenure has been marked by speculation about his reported loyalty to President Donald Trump. Donald Trump Jr. was a guest at a Zeldin fundraiser and Zeldin has greeted the president as he landed on the East End for fundraising events. Zeldin also was included in an immigration forum Trump held on Long Island that focused on eradicating gang violence.
