Attorney Jennifer B. Cona Reorganizes Firm Under New Brand

Leading Long Island Firm to be Known as Cona Elder Law PLLC; Partners Ken Kern and Melissa Negrin-Wiener Made Partners

Jennifer B. Cona, one of Long Island’s most visible attorneys and community leaders, announced today a re-branding and reorganization of the law firm she founded in 1998. Effective immediately, the firm formerly known as Genser Dubow Genser & Cona LLP, will now be known as Cona Elder Law PLLC.

“Attorney advertising laws have evolved to permit the use of a practice area in a firm’s name,” says Ms. Cona, an AV- rated preeminent attorney whose long list of honors include being recognized by Super Lawyers® and Best Lawyers in America, cited by the New York Law Journal in its inaugural class of “Top Women in Law”, and inducted into the Long Island Business News’ Top 50 Women in Business Hall of Fame. “There’s a trend in the legal industry toward shorter law firm names, typically that of the founding partner, and including our practice area in our firm name. This allows clients and potential clients to better understand the services we provide. We are dedicated exclusively to the practice of elder law and want our name to reflect our work rather than a long list of partners.”

In addition to the new name, Ms. Cona announced a reorganization she says is designed to maximize the firm’s ability to deliver best-in-class elder law and health care law services. Beginning in 2021, partners Ken Kern of St. James, who leads Cona Elder Law’s Health Care Reimbursement and Recovery Department, and Melissa Negrin-Wiener, of East Setauket, who manages the Government Benefits Department, will both become members of the firm. The two new members, who have been with the firm for 17 and 18 years respectively, will continue the mission: to secure and ensure a payment source for long term health care, working together with both families and health care facilities to sustain quality care for older adults.

“Our top-notch team of attorneys and staff are poised and ready to serve the people of our communities by creating customized trusts, estates and elder law plans,” said Ms. Cona. “We believe you are never too young or too old to plan and you are never too rich or too poor for us to assist you. We’re proud of the work we’ve done for the past 23 years and, with Mr. Kern and Ms. Negrin-Wiener in their new roles, we are in an even stronger position to continue empowering our clients to live their best lives.”
