Barnum Woods Students Present Cultural Artifacts to Utilize Public Speaking Skills
Fifth-graders at Barnum Woods Elementary present cultural artifacts unique to their ethnic backgrounds to practice public speaking skills.

Fifth-grade students at Barnum Woods Elementary School practiced public speaking skills they’ve been studying with a presentation of cultural artifacts reflecting their unique ethnic backgrounds.
Prior to presenting their cultural artifacts, students of Gene Vassel’s fifth-grade class learned the skills to necessary for successful public speakers such as eye contact, confidence and good posture.
To implement these newly acquired public speaking skills, fifth-graders shared a cultural artifact to highlight their cultural differences. Some of the cultural artifacts included clothing, coins, glasses and recipes.
