A public forum will take place at the East Meadow Public Library Jan. 21 to discuss Common Core curriculum and "high stakes testing."
The meeting, which begins at 7:30 p.m., is open to all. Guest speakers include:
- Jeanette Deutermann, founder and administrator of a Facebook group called Long Island Opt-Out and co-founder of the New York State Allies for Public Education
- Dr. Joseph Rella, superintendent of the Comsewogue School District
- Maria Kilfoyle, an educator and BATs general manager and parent advocate
- David Greene, a career educator who's authored Doing The Right Thing: A Teacher Speaks and serves as treasurer for Save Our Schools, a national organization against "high-stakes testing and corporate control of the public school systems."
