Don't Forget Your Umbrella Today
April showers may bring May flowers, but we're in for a whole lot more than showers Tuesday. A messy morning commute is on tap.
Up to 2 inches of rain is expected to fall across Long Island Tuesday and it could make for a rough ride to the office.
"With heavy rain falling during the morning commute a word to the wise is sufficient," Joe Cioffi, a meteorologist for WPIX and FiOS1, writes on his Facebook page. "An extra 15 to 30 minutes might not be a bad idea."

If you need to drive to a train station and then ride the Long Island Rail Road Tuesday morning, you could be in for a double whammy of commuter pain. The LIRR is canceling or combining numerous trains for the morning rush because of the derailment of a New Jersey Transit train in Penn Station Monday.
Any showers and thunderstorms will end Tuesday evening as a weakening cold front passes through the area and shifts winds to the west, the National Weather Service says.
