East Meadow Native Corey Dinkin Dies at Age 60
Dinkin later to moved to the Boston-area, where he most recently worked as a paralegal.

Corey Leland Dinkin, 60, died unexpectedly on June 6, 2015 in Arlington, Massachusetts after fighting lung cancer. Born in East Meadow, NY on July 5, 1954, he was the son of the late Marilyn and Robert Dinkin. A long time former resident of Lindenhurst (attending grade school through high school), he later moved to the Boston area, settling in Arlington, Massachusetts.
After attending NYU and other colleges, he worked in a variety of positions, including the Massachusetts Land Court, Massachusetts Jury System; most recently he was a paralegal, where he conducted corporate litigation research. Corey was passionate about all types of music, from classical to jazz to the blues ... as a collector,fan, and musician. He played in a number of local bands with other town residents at local music clubs.
Corey also composed his own eclectic compositions. In the 70’s, as an accomplished electric guitarist, he performed at well known NYC music clubs, including the Bitter End, and jammed with leading musicians of the period. He became a noted collector of the blues, amassing a substantial collection of recording and artifacts, and was a lover of PBS programs (especially musical topics and the quiz shows). Over the years, he developed a friendship with Captain Beefheart.

In addition to his passion for music, Corey was an animal lover, especially cats, and often took marathon walks/hikes. He also possessed a very sharp, wry sense of humor. Corey was a person of exceptional intelligence, compassion and creativity, with specific expertise around health and well-being. He was always encouraging family and friends to improve their health. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his brother, Les, also a former long time Lindenhurst resident.

Graveside services will be held at Beit Olam East Cemetery in Wayland, MA on Sunday, June 14.
