East Meadow School Budget Passes; Incumbent Trustees Reelected

EAST MEADOW, NY — Voters in East Meadow went to the polls on Tuesday and approved the school district's proposed 2021-22 budget.

The budget easily passed, 1,843 to 663.

The proposed spending plan of $218,857,635 is a 2.18 percent increase over the current budget. To fund it, the district proposed a tax levy increase of 1.5 percent, which it said is below the tax cap maximum of 1.88 percent.

In addition to the budget, voters also cast their ballots for two Board of Education trustees. Incumbents Melissa Tell and Eileen Napolitano both won reelection, with 1,415 and 1,613 votes, respectively. Challengers Colette DeVito and Rosalba Danielo received, 751 and 554 votes, respectively.
