Flash Flood Warnings in Effect During Morning Commute

As heavy rain continues to pound the area, the morning commute is a dangerous one.

Flash flood warnings are in effect Tuesday morning in Nassau County and western Suffolk County as heavy rain continues to pound the area.

A flash flood watch will be in effect until noon for the entire island.

As much as 1 to 3 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts, fell across portions of the area Monday afternoon and evening. Scattered heavy rain showers and isolated thunderstorms will
continue to move across the area Tuesday morning, with up to an additional inch of rain possible.

About 2,500 PSEG Long Island customers were without power as of 8:24 a.m., according to the outage map.
