A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for Long Island. Check out the latest forecast as storms move into the area tonight.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Long Island as the radar has lit up with showers and thunderstorms across the Northeast Wednesday night.

"Areas of heavy rainfall are likely tonight and there is a chance of flash flooding," the hazardous weather outlook says.

Wednesday Night- Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Low around 72. South wind 8 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Thursday- Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 8am, then a chance of showers between 8am and noon, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Cloudy, with a high near 82. Southwest wind 6 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Thursday Night- Patchy fog after 2am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 71. Southwest wind 3 to 7 mph.

Friday- A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 85. Light southwest wind becoming south 5 to 10 mph in the morning.

Friday Night- A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. South wind 5 to 8 mph.

Saturday- A 30 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 84.

Saturday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 69.

Sunday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 84.
