Heavy Rain Friday, More Snow Possible Next Week For Long Island
Heavy rain and thunderstorms (and temps near 60) are in Friday's forecast and then we get back to winter weather real quick.

Long Island is expected to get soaked with up to two inches of rain Friday into Saturday morning, the National Weather Service says.
Thunderstorms are also possible on a day where a record high temperature may be set. The daily record high for Jan. 12 at Long Island MacArthur Airport is 58 degrees. That was set in 1995. On Friday, the high is expected to be near 58.
The warmth won't last long, though. Winter returns with a vengeance Saturday with the temperature falling to around 28 degrees by 5 p.m. There's also a chance of sleet, freezing rain and snow Saturday, but no accumulations are expected.

Looking ahead to next week, forecasters are keeping an eye on a clipper system that will approach the island on Tuesday and bring a chance of snow. The NWS has not yet released any accumulation estimates.
