Heavy Rain, Possible Thunderstorms Friday On Long Island

A fast-moving storm system will bring rain and possibly thunderstorms to Long Island Friday.
Rain is expected to develop mid-to-late morning from southwest to northeast across the area, the National Weather Service says.
The rain may come down briefly heavy in some locations during the late morning and early afternoon.

Friday- Rain before noon, then rain and possibly a thunderstorm between noon and 4pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 4pm. High near 57. Southeast wind 6 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Friday Night- A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly before 10pm. Areas of fog. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 49. Southeast wind 6 to 8 mph becoming west after midnight.
Saturday- Patchy fog before 10am. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 62. West wind 5 to 14 mph becoming south in the afternoon.
Saturday Night- A 50 percent chance of showers, mainly after 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 45. South wind 8 to 10 mph becoming northwest after midnight.
Sunday- Partly sunny, with a high near 57.
Sunday Night- Mostly cloudy, with a low around 38.
Monday- Partly sunny, with a high near 58.
