WESTBURY, NY — In order to help both local businesses and its members, Jovia Financial Credit Union announced that it would be purchasing gift cards from food delivery services and raffling them off to members.

The Westbury-based credit union purchased more than $5,000 worth of $100 gift cards to award to members. The gift cards are for services like Grubhub, Seamless, DoorDash and Uber Eats. Those who win the gift cards will be able to use them to purchase food from local restaurants.

Jovia members can enter to win one of the gift cards by filling out a form at joviafinancial.com/supporting-local-business. The gift cards will be awarded randomly in mid- May after all entries have been received.

“All of us have been through so much the past several weeks, so this will certainly help make the lives of some of our members just a little bit easier,” said Renu Dalessandro, chief marketing officer at Jovia. “This program also has the added benefit of hopefully driving sales to those local restaurants and eateries that are providing an essential service during these difficult times.”

This is the third community-focused effort Jovia has announced in this past week. The first was the announced partnership with Island Harvest Food Bank to provide $10,000 in funding to deliver meal kits to 400 families that previously depended on school programs for their daily meals. Jovia also donated $5,000 to the Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau to purchase gloves, masks and other personal protection equipment for those caring for disabled individuals living at the organization’s residences.
