Long Island Pride Returns In Scaled-Down Form This Year

Instead of a parade, organizers are putting on a concert this year, with limited tickets. All attendees will have to be vaccinated.

EAST MEADOW, NY — Long Island Pride is returning this year in a scaled-down form. Instead of a parade and a weekend-long celebration, this year's festival will be a concert at Eisenhower Park, and tickets are on sale now.

Long Island Pride, sponsored by the LGBT Network, is a yearly event that celebrates Long Island's LGBT community. The event was cancelled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic, but is back this year.

The concert is scheduled for June 13 at the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre in Eisenhower Park, from noon to 4 p.m. General admission tickets are $40, and VIP tickets — which include better seating and a commemorative mask — are $75. You can purchase tickets here.

But because of the pandemic, there are still restrictions. The event is limited to 500 people, all of whom have to purchase tickets in advance — there will be no same-day entry. In addition, everyone who attends will have to be vaccinated against the coronavirus.

Because of the limited number of people who will be allowed to attend, the concert will also be live-streamed online for people all over to view.

The concert is a scaled-down version of what Long Island Pride usually offers. In years past, the event has been a weekend-long celebration, usually centered around a Pride Parade. It also usually includes concerts, dances and other activities which have drawn thousands of people.
