Man, 44, Stabbed In East Meadow Hotel, Local Man Arrested: PD
The injured man was trying to intervene in an argument when he was stabbed by an East Meadow man, police said.

EAST MEADOW, NY — A 44-year-old man was stabbed when he tried to intervene in an argument inside a room at the Coliseum Motor Inn in East Meadow on Friday night, Nassau County police said.
Police said Jose Gonzalez, 29, of East Meadow had been staying inside a room with other people at the inn, which is located on Hempstead Turnpike, when he became involved in an argument with “another male” just before 11 p.m. A 44-year-old man intervened in the argument, trying “to stop the fight” and Gonzalez took out a knife and stabbed him in the chest, police said.
The man was able to leave the room and walk to the lobby for help, police said. His injury was “non-life-threatening” and he was transported to an area hospital for treatment, police said.

Gonzalez was found in the hotel room and was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor, police said.

Gonzalez will be arraigned in Mineola on Saturday. If convicted of the assault charge, Gonzalez faces up to seven years in state prison.
