Massive Nassau House Fire Damages 4 Homes

More than a dozen fire departments responded to help put out the blaze, which broke out early Monday morning.

WESTBURY, NY — A family was safely evacuated during an early morning house fire in Westbury on Monday.

According to police, a fire broke out in a home on Evelyn Avenue in Westbury at 4:20 a.m. When officers arrived, police say the home was fully engulfed in flames, but the family had managed to make it out safely.

Multiple fire departments responded to the scene. Because of the intensity of the blaze, the families in the neighboring homes were evacuated.

The Westbury Fire Department was assisted by firefighters from Williston Park, Carle Place, Mineola, Garden City, Garden City Park, Roslyn, Jericho, Hempstead, East Williston Park, Manhasset-Lakeville, Albertson, North Merrick and Port Washington.

Four houses suffered damage from the fire, but no one was injured. Police say the Arson/Bomb Squad and Fire Marshals are still investigating the cause.
