Nassau County Creates Program To Vaccinate Veterans
The county will inoculate hundreds of eligible veterans every week, officials say.

NASSAU COUNTY, NY — Nassau announced a new procedure to vaccinate eligible veterans against the coronavirus, county officials announced Tuesday.
Nassau County Executive Laura Curran announced a partnership between Nassau University Medical Center and the Nassau County Veterans Service Agency to get veterans vaccinated. Vaccines will be available to veterans who live in Nassau County and are currently eligible for the vaccine under state guidelines.
“Nassau County is home to more than 45,000 veterans and I am dedicated to providing them with access to the COVID-19 vaccine" Curran said. "Protecting our vets from this deadly disease is the least we can do as they valiantly fought to protect our freedoms."

According to Curran, the county will be able to distribute 300 vaccine doses to veterans every week. The vaccines will be administered by staff at NUMC, and the appointments will be coordinated by the VSA. For more information and to make an appointment, please call the Nassau VSA at 572-6565.
As per New York State prioritization guidance, Nassau County and its partners are only able to vaccinate eligible groups at this time. For more information on who is currently eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, click here.
