Nassau Kids Can Still Send Letters To Santa This Year
The county is setting up special mailboxes this year. Kids who use them to mail a letter to Santa will get a "Santa-Gram" in response.
NASSAU COUNTY, NY — The coronavirus pandemic will make it more difficult to visit Santa Claus in person this year, but Nassau County children will still be able to send letters to St. Nick up at the North Pole via a special network of Santa’s Mailboxes at Nassau County Parks from Nov. 30 to Dec. 18.
“Happy to be able to provide a sense of normalcy and some holiday cheer for Nassau’s little ones who may have struggled to adapt to the many changes and challenges of this past year,” said Nassau County Executive Laura Curran. “Continuing to enhance our parks and expand their fun and unique seasonal programs is key to making Nassau a better place for people to live, work and play. Encouraging families to take advantage of this safe and magical annual activity.”
All children who send letters to Santa will receive a reply in the form of a “Santa-Gram” from the North Pole, with Santa’s elves at the Parks Department pitching in to send cheery but noncommittal letters in response to children’s letters. To assure a reply, each letter must contain the child’s name and address, written legibly. There is no postage necessary for the Santa letters. The “Santa-Grams” will be sent before the holiday.
