Nassau Man Tried To Flee To Mexico To Escape Murder Charge: PD

Police say Oscar Rios Perez murdered his roommate and then fled to Texas. He was arrested while boarding a bus bound for Mexico.

UNIONDALE, NY — A Nassau County man was arrested in Texas and charged with second-degree homicide while trying to flee to Mexico after killing a man in Uniondale, police said.

According to police, Oscar Rios Perez, 37, of Walton Avenue, Uniondale, got into an argument with his roommate — 27-year-old Jesus Martinez — and killed him on Jan. 30. Martinez's body was found outside a nearby home.

Newsday reported that Perez was arrested in Austin, Texas on Monday as he was boarding a bus bound for Mexico. He was extradited back to Nassau County.

Perez is charged with second-degree homicide. He is scheduled to be arraigned today.
