Nassau Police Make Arrest In Latest MS-13 Slaying
Police say the man is responsible for the murder of the teen whose body was recovered from a sump in East Meadow yesterday.

Nassau County police have already made an arrest in connection with the human remains that were found in a sump in East Meadow yesterday.
Police arrested Carlos Benitez-Hernandez, 21, of Harding Street, Uniondale on Wednesday. He is charged with second-degree murder.
Police spent all day Tuesday searching a sump in East Meadow filled with dense thickets after the received a tip about human remains being buried there. Police recovered the remains of a boy in his late teenage years, but have not yet identified him.

Commissioner Patrick Ryder said that the boy was a victim of MS-13 violence, and that he was killed and buried at the spot more than a year ago.
Ryder said at a press conference on Tuesday that the police believed they already had five people who were involved in the killing behind bars.

"We will be relentless in the pursuit of these individuals that have committed these crimes in Nassau County," Ryder said.
Benitez-Hernandez is scheduled to be arraigned today in First District Court in Hempstead.
