NUMC Hospital President/CEO Unexpectedly Fired By Board

In a late-night meeting, the board voted unanimously to remove him and gave no reason for the firing.

The Board of Directors of NuHealth, the group that oversees Nassau University Medical Center, unexpectedly fired Dr. Victor Politi, the hospitals' director and CEO, Wednesday night.

According to Newsday, the board met late Wednesday night for three hours and unanimously voted to remove Politi. No reason was given for his firing.

The board named Dr. Paula Pippa, the chief medical officer, as the interim president and CEO.

“What happened here tonight was a gross violation of due process,” Ronald Rosenberg, Politi's attorney, told Newsday. “We are completely unaware of the basis for what took place today, and Mr. Politi was excluded from the room, so we have no idea whatsoever what this is all about.”
