Road Closures Announced For Long Island Marathon

The Long Island Marathon is Sunday, May 6, and the Nassau County Police Department has announced which roads are going to be closed for the race, and for how long.

If you can, it's best to avoid the area around Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, unless you're going for the race. Traffic all over that area is going to be bad all day due to road closures, including the closure of the Wantagh Parkway.

Here are the roads that are going to be closed, and when. However, the NCPD decides which roads to close. And the police department said that the times are approximate: roads may close earlier or later than the listed time, be closed for longer or reopen earlier.

• Wantagh Parkway — 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Charles Lindbergh Blvd — 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.
• Merrick Avenue (north of Hempstead Turnpike) — 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.
• Old Country Road (Post Avenue to School Street) — 7:40 a.m. to 10 a.m.
• School Street (Old Country Road to Railroad Avenue) — 7:40 a.m. to 10 a.m.
• Salisbury Park Drive — 7:50 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• Railroad Avenue — 7:50 a.m. to 10 a.m.
• Post Avenue (Railroad Avenue to Jericho Turnpike) — 7:50 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
• Jericho Turnpike EAST-BOUND ONLY (Post Avenue to Brush Hollow Road) — 7:50 a.m. to 11 a.m.
• Brush Hollow Road — 7:50 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
• Carman Avenue (Old Country Road to Nottingham Road) — 7:50 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Northern State Parkway exits to Post Ave. and Wantagh Parkway will be closed at 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• All exits and entrance ramps to and from Wantagh Parkway will be closed 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Meadowbrook Parkway exits and entrances to and from Charles Lindbergh Blvd. (Nassau Coliseum, Nassau Community College) and Eisenhower Park exits will be closed from 5 to 10 a.m.
• Eisenhower Park's Park Blvd. will not allow through traffic between 7:15 and 10 a.m. The Hempstead Turnpike entrance to the park will be open throughout the day for golf and Carltun guests, with a northbound Park Blvd turnaround at the golf course until 10 a.m.
