Second Long Island Stew Leonard's Set To Open In August
The new store will employ nearly 400 people. Applications are already being accepted.
Stew Leonard's, one of Long Island's newest — and most popular — supermarkets is set to open its second location in August. The new store will be located in East Meadow, at 1987 Front St., just off Hempstead Turnpike.
Once it opens, the store will provide nearly 400 jobs, some of which will be full-time and offer full benefits. In order to help the hiring process, Stew Leonard's has opened a hiring center next door to the new location, which will be screening candidates every day.
The East Meadow location will be the sixth store in the Connecticut-based chain, which already has stores in Norwalk, Danbury and Newington, Connecticut, upstate in Yonkers and on Long Island in Farmingdale.

The new store was first announced last January and has been in the works since.
Stew Leonard's is unlike other grocery stores in that it offers a limited, curated selection of goods numbering just 2,200. Other grocery stores sell up to 60,000 items. Stew Leonard's also owns its own dairy farm, so it offers fresh dairy products and steaks. It is also well-known for its prepared food that shoppers can pick up in the expansive hot and cold bar area.
