At 8:55 p.m., a strong thunderstorm was located over the Throgs Neck Bridge, moving east at 35 mph. Winds in excess of 40 mph are possible with this storm.
Locations impacted may include...Islip, Brentwood, Levittown, Commack, Huntington Station, Centereach, Deer Park, Lindenhurst, Glen Cove, Plainview, Hauppauge, Ronkonkoma, Syosset and Mineola.

Heavy rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may cause localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
A severe thunderstorm warning was in effect until 9:15 p.m. for Nassau. At 9:13 p.m., the NWS issued this special weather statement for southern Nassau:

Locations impacted may include... Freeport, Long Beach, Garden City, Massapequa, Lynbrook, Jones Beach, Hempstead, Oceanside, Baldwin, Wantagh, Lido Beach, Uniondale, Rockville Centre, Merrick and East Massapequa.
