Uniondale, N.Y. – On October 23rd, in celebration of “Unity Day,” the Uniondale Union Free School District’s Walnut Street School showed their support by wearing and displaying the color orange to show support for students who have been bullied and to promote the message of kindness, acceptance, and inclusion.

“We have a zero tolerance policy for bullying within our District,” said Dr. William K. Lloyd, Superintendent of the Uniondale Union Free School District. “Celebrating Unity Day is just one part of our commitment to providing students with a well-rounded character education as well as an academic one.”

“Unity Day” was created by PACER’S National Bullying Prevention Center as a part of National Bullying Prevention Month. The day provides an opportunity for students to recognize the value of their peers and spark conversation between students, teachers and parents about their role in bullying prevention.
