William J. Neill Re-Elected East Meadow Fire Commissioner
Commissioner Neill is a longtime member of the East Meadow Fire Department's Engine Company Number Three

East Meadow Fire District Commissioner William J. Neill was re-elected to his sixth term in the district elections held on Tuesday, December 8, 2020.
Commissioner Neill, who ran unopposed, is a longtime member of the East Meadow Fire Department’s Engine Company Number Three and previously served as its lieutenant and captain. In 1986 the EMFD membership elected him Assistant Chief, and subsequently Chief of Department in 1989.
“I am honored and thankful to have gained the confidence of the voters of the East Meadow Fire District in allowing me the opportunity to serve them for another term,” said Commissioner Neill. “I pledge to continue to work on behalf of the residents and taxpayers of East Meadow in providing the best possible fire, rescue, and emergency medical services at the best possible cost.”

Established in 1930, the East Meadow Fire District is an independent tax entity governed by an unpaid five-member Board of Fire Commissioners. Commissioners are elected at-large by the voters of the district to five-year terms. Among their duties are statutory responsibilities that include levying taxes to support the all-volunteer fire department, which provides fire protection and emergency medical services to residents and businesses within the fire district’s borders. The East Meadow Fire District encompasses most of East Meadow, along with portions of Levittown and Westbury (Salisbury).
