Bethpage State Parkway Overnight Closures Begin Next Week
Motorists can expect full overnight closures on the Bethpage State Parkway starting next week. Closures could last as long as eight weeks.

BETHPAGE, NY—Drivers should expect full overnight closures on the Bethpage State Parkway in the Town of Oyster Bay for awhile starting next week, the NYS Department of Transportation announced.
Starting Monday, June 24, both directions of the Bethpage State Parkway will be closed to all traffic on weekdays between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. These closures are expected to be effective for about six to eight weeks.
The Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway (State Route 135) is available as an alternate route. Detour signs have been posted to direct drivers.

The reason for the closures are that crews will be constructing new, safe areas for emergency pull-offs and replacing existing highway shoulders alongside the pull-offs with wider asphalt and grass turf shoulders. This is part of a $5.1 million safety initiative.
Work is subject to be cancelled, postponed or prolonged due to poor weather conditions.
