Derailed Amtrak Equipment Causing Problems on LIRR

A minor derailment of Amtrak track equipment in one of the Hudson River tunnels Friday morning is causing issues on the Long Island Rail Road.

The derailment has reduced track capacity at Penn Station and the following LIRR trains are being canceled, combined or diverted:

Babylon Branch
- The 6:13AM train from Massapequa Park due Penn at 7:08AM is canceled at Jamaica today. Customers headed to Penn Station can transfer at Jamaica for the next westbound train to Penn.
- The 6:57AM train from Freeport due Penn at 7:40AM is diverted to Atlantic Terminal today. Customers headed to Penn Station can transfer at Jamaica for the next westbound train to Penn.
- The 7:29AM train from Freeport due Penn at 8:13AM is canceled at Jamaica today. Customers headed to Penn Station can transfer at Jamaica for the next westbound train to Penn.
- The 7:35AM train from Babylon due Penn at 8:48AM is canceled at Jamaica today. Customers headed to Penn Station can transfer at Jamaica for the next westbound train to Penn.

Hempstead Branch
- The 6:58AM train from Hempstead due Penn at 7:52AM is canceled in Jamaica today. Customers headed to Penn Station can transfer at Jamaica for the next westbound train to Penn.
- The 7:12AM train from Hempstead due Penn at 8:03AM is canceled in Jamaica today. Customers headed to Penn Station can transfer at Jamaica for the next westbound train to Penn.

West Hempstead Branch
- The 7:36AM train from West Hempstead due Penn at 8:29AM is canceled in Jamaica today. Customers headed to Penn Station can transfer at Jamaica for the next westbound train to Penn.

To help alleviate congestion, NYC Transit is cross-honoring LIRR tickets at Jamaica (E, J, Z), Penn Station (A,C,E), Kew Gardens (E,F), Forest Hills (E,F), Woodside (7) and Flushing-Main Street (7).
