May 6, 2021; Bethpage, NY – A spirited night of poker, gourmet food, cocktails and fun prizes await as Adults and Children with Learning and Developmental Disabilities, Inc. (ACLD) will host its third annual POKER FOR A PURPOSE fundraiser on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, 5:30 p.m. at The Heritage Club at Bethpage (Bethpage State Park, NY). The in-person poker tournament is a signature event hosted by ACLD to raise funds to support people with special needs and make a difference in the lives of children and adults with developmental disabilities. Money raised is designated to ACLD’s Vacation Fund, guaranteeing every person living in an ACLD residence gets to enjoy a vacation once a year.
This year’s event will honor Bob Gebbia, Co-Owner and Operator of Palmer’s American Grille in Farmingdale. A well-recognized and prominent fixture within Farmingdale and Bethpage townships, Mr. Gebbia shares the same enthusiasm as ACLD in bringing people together and creating harmonious and meaningful relationships. “Looking back at all the challenges we were able to overcome in 2020 due to the pandemic, we are eager to turn the tide and lift the spirits of our supporters and donors,” commented ACLD Executive Director Robert Ciatto. “What better way than to bring our POKER FOR A PURPOSE event, in-person, and create a night of engagement and camaraderie for all participants. We’re delighted to honor Bob Gebbia. He has a huge heart and deserves to be recognized for all his outstanding contributions to his local community.

The safety of guests is ACLD and The Heritage Club’s highest priority and the event will adhere to current guidelines set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as local and State Health Departments. Much of the evening will be outdoors within heated tents. Gourmet food will be served before the tournament begins and highlights throughout the evening will include raffle prizes, a silent auction and desirable prizes for the top winners of the tournament.
“ACLD is a tremendous agency and performs such an admirable service,” said honoree Bob Gebbia. “The programs they implement create incredible opportunities for people with special needs to grow and flourish as individuals. As they say in poker, ‘I’m all in’ to support ACLD, and I encourage the same of all guests that wish to attend.”
More than 175 poker players and spectators are expected to participate, and sponsorships and tickets are still available. For non-poker players there is a casino tournament that will coincide with the poker tournament, as well as learn-to-play-poker options.
Registration and dinner begin at 5:30 p.m. followed by the casino tournament. The poker tournament will kick-off at 7:00 p.m. Sponsors thus far include Garone Construction Corp. (Tent Sponsor), and Client First Strategy (Jack Sponsor).
