Farmingdale Diner Holds Ribbon Cutting Under New Ownership

The longtime diner is now being run by Harry Savvides and family and held its grand re-opening Wednesday morning. Photos inside.

FARMINGDALE, NY — Farmingdale Diner celebrated its grand re-opening Wednesday morning with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The eatery, at 17 Hempstead Turnpike, is now under the ownership of Harry Savvides and his family.

"It's great," Savvides told Patch. "Farmingdale is a great community, and we’re hoping to meet a lot of new residents that are here."

Elected officials from Farmingdale Village, the Town of Oyster Bay and Nassau County were on-hand to offer their congratulations to Savvides and the Farmingdale Diner crew. Among them were Farmingdale Village Mayor Ralph Ekstrand, Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor Joseph Saladino, and Nassau County Legislators James D. Kennedy and Rose Marie Walker.

"Rose and I represent Farmingdale, together," Kennedy said. "And we love Farmingdale. I know that you’re doing to do so well in so many ways in this community. This diner and you guys are going to do fantastic."

The ceremony began with a religious ceremony for the Savvides family and its business venture.

"Clearly, the Farmingdale Diner is incredibly blessed and will continue to be blessed with good fortune, good health for the family and prosperity," Saladino said. "You bring food to our stomachs and love to our hearts. Congratulations, and may you have 100 years of success."

Farmingdale Diner serves typical American fare such as appetizers, salads, a large variety of sandwiches, grilled cheeses, paninis, wraps, quesadillas, burgers, pastas, seafood, desserts and more. Breakfast options include pancakes, French toast, Belgian waffles, eggs, omelettes, bagels, etc.

Savvides said the diner delivers via GrubHub and Seamless, and caters to events and parties as well.

Farmingdale Diner is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday. The diner can be reached at 516-777-3377.
