Farmingdale Eatery Offers Free Thanksgiving Eve Buffet

FARMINGDALE, NY — This Thanksgiving season is a little different as many are struggling due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Turning Point, a Farmingdale restaurant and bar, is extending a hand to those in need.

The eatery is scheduled to host a free Thanksgiving Eve buffet from 4 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night at its 48 Motor Ave. location. The buffet, which is open to the community, will feature penne a la vodka, skirt steak, mashed potatoes, chicken fingers and salad.

"These are tough times for all of us, we all need each other ..." The Turning Point posted on its Facebook page. "No one should go hungry!! ... No judgments will be made; it is a free meal to anyone who comes in. So many families are hurting; it is time to help one another."

Alex Barrell, the owner, along with his manager, Sofia, and chef, Lester, organized the event to help those who need it most.

"We at the Turning Point ... know that many people out in our community are suffering, and as we all know, this holiday season is like no other in our lifetimes," Barrell told Patch. "We felt that we needed to do whatever we can to help those in need. At The Turning Point, we believe in reaching down to help pull someone up and these times, more then ever, we need to pull together ... to save each other ... to be there for each other. The light at The Turning Point is always on for those in need."

There will be no alcohol served, but water and soda will be available. People can sit inside or out, and food will be packaged to go.
