Farmingdale Mayor On Re-Election: 'I Am Humbled And Privileged'

Ralph Ekstrand, who won a third term as Farmingdale Village mayor, commented on his victory in his latest update.

FARMINGDALE, NY — Farmingdale Village Mayor Ralph Ekstrand on Sunday issued his first update since his election victory over former mayor George "Butch" Starkie on Sept. 15.

Ekstrand was re-elected to a third four-year term, defeating Starkie by a margin of 830 votes to 568. Deputy Mayor William Barrett and Trustee Walter Priestley were also re-elected. Ekstrand, on behalf of the Board of Trustees, thanked all residents who voted and made their voices heard.

"We thank you for the confidence in me that was expressed at the polls on Tuesday, September 15th," Ekstrand stated in a news release. "I am humbled and privileged to be re-elected to serve all of the residents of the Village of Farmingdale for a third term. Again, all this clearly represents the Teamwork that exists with our many local and state elected officials. I am looking forward to working with Walter, Bill and our entire Board for the continued redevelopment of the Village. On behalf of myself and the Village Board, we thank you for your support!"

Ekstrand also acknowledged and commended the hard work done by Barrett and Priestley to make Farmingdale "one of Long Island's top Villages."
