Farmingdale, NY (March 24, 2021) – The Farmingdale School District presented its Capital and Financial plan for the 2021/22 school year to the community at the Board of Education’s second special meeting/budget workshop/public input on March 24, 2021. During the virtual meeting, Farmingdale School District Assistant to the Superintendent for Business Michael Motisi reviewed the presentation from the March 17, 2021 meeting, then highlighted a detailed explanation of capital work, smart schools bond project, and financial planning for the 2021/22 school year.
Capital work included updates on bathroom renovation projects. Phase I of the project began in the summer of 2018 and was completed. Phase II and III are currently in progress and will continue through summer 2021. Other capital work updates discussed were the Aquatic Center’s status at Howitt Middle School, a project overview of the energy performance contract II, and other facility projects district-wide. An outline of the smart schools bond project was also presented. The investment plan includes the installation of high-tech security, computer networking, WiFi upgrades, and upgrades to classroom learning technology.
The District hosts special meetings throughout March, April, and May to relay important information about the 2021/22 budget and answer the community’s questions. The next Board of Education meeting/Adopt 2021/22 Proposed Budget for Voter Approval will occur on Wednesday, April 14, 2021.
The District reminds residents to vote on the 2021/22 proposed budget on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at the Howitt Middle School WEST gymnasium from 6:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
