Farmingdale Mayoral Election Results: Ralph Ekstrand Re-Elected
Mayor Ralph Ekstrand defeated former mayor George "Butch" Starkie, and William Barnett and Walter Priestley were re-elected as trustees.

FARMINGDALE, NY — Farmingdale Village residents headed to the polls on Tuesday to elect the mayor and trustees.
Incumbent mayor Ralph Ekstrand defeated former mayor George "Butch" Starkie by a margin of 830 votes to 568 to win re-election.
Incumbent trustees Deputy Mayor William Barnett and Walter Priestley were re-elected after running unopposed. They garnered 1,120 and 1,110 votes respectively.

While the results did not go his way, Starkie wrote on Facebook that Farmingdale served as a model for what elections "need to look like."
"Issues were raised, public was engaged, and the public spoke," Starkie wrote. "I love America and the Village I call home. Good luck to Walter Priestly, Bill Barrett and Mayor Ralph Ekstrand. Maybe our nation can learn something from our little Village?"

The election ran from noon to 9 p.m. at the St. Kilian Auditorium.
