FARMINGDALE, NY — Two Farmingdale Village businesses recently celebrated anniversaries, merchants are putting out seasonal favorites, and the Village is scheduled to flush its water mains, according to Mayor Ralph Ekstrand.

Library Café celebrated its 20th anniversary with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday. Through the end of October, the café is offering any two appetizers from the regular menu for $20 and any two signature martinis for $20.

"I have been very lucky and fortunate to have such a great staff alongside me at the Library Café for the last 20 years, because of them we have become an integral part of our Farmingdale community. Our customers, especially our regulars, have become family. Our Mayor, Ralph Ekstrand, has been extremely supportive of the restaurant community in Farmingdale and we thank him for all of his efforts throughout the years."

Alibi Speakeasy & Lounge also celebrated its one-year anniversary, and the business was congratulated by Ekstrand.

Now that it's October, many merchants in Farmingdale are having specials, offering seasonal food and beverages, and more. Ekstrand encouraged residents to check their websites and follow them on social media for more details.

Also, the local farmers markets continue to run 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each Sunday on the Village Green, weather permitting.

The Village is scheduled to flush its water mains as a part of its regular Distribution System Maintenance Program from 10 p.m. Oct. 23 through 6:30 a.m. Oct. 24. The program is designed to remove any accumulation of dissolved materials which may have settled in the mains. Slight water pressure variations or discolored water conditions might happen during the cleansing. Water uses, such as laundry, may be affected due to coloration of water. The water is "absolutely safe to drink," Ekstrand said.

For residents with concerns, they can call Village Hall at 516-249-0093 or visit the Farmingdale Village website.

Ekstrand again urged Dalers to shop and dine local, supporting the Village merchants in the process, as many continue to deal with the coronavirus. Many businesses offer indoor seating and outdoor patio dining, as well as curbside pick-up, delivery and takeout.
