Farmingdale's Avanti Furniture Corporation Celebrates 56 Years

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to commemorate the Bagnasco family's success in the village.

FARMINGDALE, NY — A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to honor Avanti Furniture Corporation's 56th year in Farmingdale Village. Avanti Furniture is an upholstery shop at 497 Main St.

Kevin Bagnasco, one of the owners of the family business, is continually recognized as a true leader, and he was commended for his volunteer and humanitarian efforts by the Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce. Bagnasco is vice president of the Farmingdale Lunch Rotary, as well as the treasurer of Gift of Life International. "Rotary International" brings business and professional leaders to provide humanitarian service.

"Farmingdale has been a strong base for our business and is dear /near to our hearts," Bagnasco said via news release.

Bagnasco gave a shout out to Farmingdale Breakfast Rotary Club, which was founded in 1982; Farmingdale Village Mayor Ralph Ekstrand is a founding member. The Breakfast Rotary club meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:45 a.m. at Farmingdale Diner at 17 Hempstead Turnpike.

"It is an incredible milestone for any company to keep their doors open for 56 years," Ekstrand said. "On behalf of the Farmingdale Village Board of Trustees, we are proud of the Bagnasco family and see them as a great example. Congratulations to Kevin and the Bagnasco family."

Avanti Furniture Corporation was founded in 1965 when Frank Bagnasco, a descendant of a long line of furniture craftsmen and designers, rented the building's current space on Main Street; a showroom and workshop. Frank had the option to purchase the property. Avanti became known for the quality and uniqueness of its custom furniture, which has since been purchased by two presidents, a prime minister of Canada and two Saudi princes, according to the news release.
