Flash Flood Watch Issued For Long Island
Torrential downpours could impact the Friday morning commute, the National Weather Service says.

Long Island will be under a flash flood watch Friday as heavy rain and thunderstorms impact the region.
The flood watch will be in effect from 2 a.m. until 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service says.
Torrential downpours could impact the Friday morning commute. Rainfall rates of 1-2 inches per hour are possible with some of the storms.

"In addition to an elevated risk of flash flooding in this weather pattern, a small number of the storms may bring strong downburst winds that can knock down trees, send lawn furniture airborne and cause sporadic power outages," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Kristina Pydynowski says.

Thursday Night- A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Increasing clouds, with a low around 76. Southwest wind around 14 mph.
Friday- Showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 4pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. High near 83. Southwest wind 10 to 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.
Friday Night- A 30 percent chance of showers before 8pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 60. Northwest wind 8 to 15 mph becoming north after midnight.
Saturday- Sunny, with a high near 79. Northeast wind 7 to 13 mph.
Saturday Night- Clear, with a low around 64. South wind 5 to 8 mph becoming calm after midnight.
Sunday- Sunny, with a high near 82.
Sunday Night- Clear, with a low around 65.
Monday- Sunny, with a high near 85.
