Interactive Reading Used to Help Saltzman Students
Third graders taught through a book entitled 'Come on Rain.'

Farmingdale's Saltzman East Memorial Elementary School is working to encourage students to think and write creatively during interactive reading sessions.
Third-grade teacher Mrs. DellaRocca recently read the book, Come on Rain to her students. The book recreates a summer downpour after a massive heat wave and uses rich vocabulary, creative phrases and leaves the opportunity for students to make a connection and ask questions.
The goal of the exercise is to enhance the students’ writing skills and creativity, educators said.
