LI Artist JoAnne Dumas Exhibiting At Farmingdale State College

Mixed Media Artist at Memorial Gallery Feb. 21 – April 10

East End artist JoAnne Dumas – whose work is inspired by her fascination with water – is exhibiting at Farmingdale State College’s Memorial Gallery February 21 through April 10.

The show – β€œRock Paper Scissors” – is a survey of Dumas’s depictions of the many characteristics of water.

The Memorial Gallery is located in Hale Hall. The exhibit is free and open to the public weekdays, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. The show is curated by gallery director Beth Giacummo.

Dumas will discuss and demonstrate her work on Tuesday, March 7 in Gleeson Hall Room 104, from

11 a.m. – noon. A reception for the artist is scheduled for 5 - 7 p.m. in Hale Hall.

Dumas employs natural light and a variety of substrates to capture the way natural light creates unique combinations of color, shapes, textures and reflections. She has exhibited in numerous group and solo exhibitions, as well as having work in private and corporate collections. She teaches visual arts at Suffolk County Community College in Riverhead.

Dumas studied at Pratt Institute, Parsons School of Design, and the International Center for Photography
