FARMINGDALE, NY — A Farmingdale man was arrested after Nassau police said he attacked an employee of a local deli on Saturday.

Anthony Ayala, 20, tried entering Fabio’s Deli and Grocery, at 499 Conklin St., at around 5:20 p.m., police said. A 26-year-old male manager denied him entry due to Ayala's past confrontations with two female employees, ages 52 and 21, who both have protective stay-away orders involving him, police said.

After Ayala was told to leave, he kicked the front door, causing the glass to shatter, police said. He then went to the back of the store and kicked the door, causing it to fall off its hinges, police said.

Ayala grabbed the pipe from his hand and began punching the man in the chest, as well as hitting him with the pipe in the abdomen, causing a cut and pain, police said. Ayala then ran off, police said.

Nassau police officers quickly found Ayala and tried placing him in custody. Ayala resisted arrest, but was eventually placed in custody, police said.
