Museum of American Armor marks the Anniversary of D-Day Invasion

"Ghost Soldiers" to be unveiled on an invasion landing craft

On the anniversary of D-Day, Saturday, June 6th at 12:00 Noon, surrounded by operational historic armor, a permanent memorial to the men who came ashore at Normandy during World War II will be unveiled on the bow of a landing craft similar to those that launched the invasion, at the Museum of American Armor, 1303 Round Swamp Road, Old Bethpage.

Three “ghost soldiers” commissioned in Britain will be unveiled to mark the passing of a generation of Americans who helped liberate our world and whose legacy will be forever honored and remembered.

The unveiling will be proceeded by a processional past armor and saluting living historians as nearly a dozen Long Island families holding poster photos of their World War II veterans walk to the museum grounds.
