FARMINGDALE, NY — The Nesting Place, a wellness center dedicated entirely to the needs of new and expectant mothers, officially opened in Farmingdale on Thursday following its relocation from West Islip. A grand opening celebration is scheduled for 2 to 8 p.m. Oct. 17, according to a news release.

The Nesting Place was founded to meet the needs of thousands of young couples who live on Long Island. In 2016 alone, there were more than 29,000 births on Long Island, according to the release. The store was created with the intention of being the first dedicated space on the island for mothers to seek support.

The Nesting Place's new location is 2043 Wellwood Ave., Farmingdale. The spot is meant to be accessible to mothers in both Nassau and Suffolk. The store is slated to reopen for classes and provider appointments on Oct. 12.
